Prototyping, UI/UX Design
A startup was looking to create a new mobile app that tells users the weather. The two main screens they needed help with was having an overview of the current day and upcoming days and another screen where users can see more details about each day. Additionally, the overview needed to include the user’s location, current temperature, the chance of precipitation, and a list of the next five days of weather. The day details screen also needed to include the day of the week and the high and low temperatures for the three parts of the day, including the average temperature and the chance of precipitation.
Before I started on a prototype, I sketched different iterations that had what the client wished to have. This allowed me to create more variations faster and to not be bound by some layout or template. Ultimately, the prototype I ended up creating for the client met all their requirements for each screen. I was able to provide a functional design that showed how a user could navigate through the app. The issue along the process was defining a way to make the app simple and intuitive for a user, a part of the answer for achieving this relied on having iconography, emphasis in color and careful organization to help the client and users better understand the content and navigate the app.
